Just moved to Olympia and need some help finding the water. I have been raft guiding for 3 years and kayaking about the same. Most of my experience is out east so if anyone wants to show me the ways of the west please let me know. I am a class 3 kayaker with some bigger stuff under my belt but lets start smaller i hear the west is bigger so class 3 might be a good starting point we will see. I am cold weather ready so if there is a trip and some room i am in and there might be a cold one in it for ya thanks

Hey they dogtoy (I assume you have a real name) I also live in Oly and the boating community is real small here, and only a few of us use this site. I'm an evergreen student in my last year of school, and have been kayaking for about 6 years (11 if I include sea kayaking).

I also guided back east in the Southeast for three years (French broad, NC. Nolichucky, TN. New river, WV. Pigeon, TN.) but am originally from Massachusetts. I'm a IV+ V- paddler but regularly get out on class III runs.

I'm not going to be around this weekend because I'll be out of town boating. But give me a ring tonight, I'm going to be on campus plowing through a paper but give me a ring after 7:00 pm and we can chat.

Welcome to the PNW and the Professorpaddle community, it's one hell of a place to be a river runner. Talk to you later.

Brian is correct in his assertion that the Tilton is one of the highest quality runs near Oly. Between 1500 and 2000 is my favorite level, but I've run it as low as 800.

Hey, welcome to washington! I've only been here a couple weeks myself, just moved from the northeast, live in seattle.

Just wanted to say hey... I can't really show you anything yet!

Dogtoy,

Myself and a couple friends are doing the class 3 section of the lower Green River, meeting at Flaming Geyser State Park at 11 AM, tomorrow, Friday. Perfectly welcome. Take I-5 north to State route 18, head east, get off on auburn black diamond road, make a right, then a quick nother right on green river or green valley road. anyway, follow the signs to flaming geyser for 8 miles and thou art there. Once in the park go past the guard shack and make a right for another mile til you see yaks.

Thanks for the shout I also worked the FB, Noli, and Pig and have made a few trips to the new. I am often at evergreen, my girlfriend is in the ms program, but I do not do the phone thing to much so maybe we can meet up at the climbing gym on campus or have a beer some time. I am pretty free so let me know when you have some free time and we will get together and talk the beast of the east

Yo,

I live in Oly and am gearing up to hit this next round of rain heading this way, assuming it gets warm enough. I recently got a 10 foot sotar raft and am looking to find a couple of people to R2-3 it. I am often off midweekif you can swing it. Been down all the local runs quite a bit.
