Does anyone here know anybody locally that builds over-the-camper roof racks? I can find a million and a half lumber racks but I'm thinking something a little more sick.
Anybody with a super sick rack got any suggestions?
If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.
Maybe try Laura Sol in Portland. She's a metal artist/fabricator/Boater and has built d some racks in the past for people that are sick. Also Journey Offroad in Washougal is reasonable and high quality and can build whatever you dream up. Please post some pics when complete Dan.
Couple weeks and I can hook you up Dan. Sold my lumber rack and canopy to fund a welder. Building a custom kayak carrying fortress of stoutness for my tacoma, Neils's and whoever else. Church.
Dave Nissen in Tri-Cities does all kinds of metal fabrications. He builds a lot of raft frames and boating gear and I know he's done some pretty slick over-canopy racks too. http://www.madcatr.com
For my truck I'll be basing my rack from this idea https://www.allprooffroad.com/05tacomatrailarmor/tacomabedracks Going for simple and light with a lower profile to keep my awesome gas mileage I've had since ditching the old rack and canopy. Will have extendable wide bars for kiwi situations and a canvas tarp to throw on because this is Washington.
Neils wants to keep his canopy so I'm doing a tight fitting over style with wide bars. Still lightweight by using 1inch square tubing 1/8 thick which welded and braced will be plenty stout.
Just bagged a house here in Ellensburg with a small shop in the back so I will finally be able to get working on my truck instead of living in it.
