  Access

very easy access, but somewhat of a longer shuttle.

  Putin Details

Putin is super easy at Dodge Park. A left turn when entering the park will allow you to put in on a gravel bar on the Sandy. Heading straight and rightish after entering the park will allow you to put in on the last 100 yards or so of the Bull Run.

  Takeout Details

Take out is at Oxbow park. Access is very easy, but the park requires a fee and the rangers are notorious for zapping boaters returning on the shuttle.

  Other Issues

This run collects lots of fishermen, and wood often moves around as the river can spike hard after heavy rains

  Fun Facts

Great place to see osprey and bald eagles. Feels surprisingly remote for how easy the access is.

Run Description [Season: nov through spring]

This is a great advanced-beginner/low intermediate run. It is long, scenic, and has a variety of rapids. Pipeline is by far the toughest rapid, and although it is just a big wave train, it comes at the very beginning of the run and can be intimidating for beginners. The river enters a nice open canyon right away with little waterfalls coming off the sides and some nice wave trains depending on the flow. There is a pretty good surf wave at the bottom of Pipeline at some levels, and boaters looking to park and play can walk down from river left. The run loses punch after the first couple miles and the last bit is a nice float down moving flat water and riffles. A nice option at the end of the day is to hit up McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale for beers and burgers.

Above 3000 solid class III boaters will have a good time and boaters looking to step up will need a strong group, as rapids become pushy and pools become smaller early on in the run.
