What's Applied Community
Thursday, March 1, 2007 |
Well many of you might know that over the last 2 years I have build a
framework of tools to run online communities for different interests.
Over the last 2 years I really started getting hard after this idea. I
wanted to build a product that I could give to clubs all around the
country that would enable them to grow and function better as a
community and group.
So I set out to create a product I named "appliedCommunity". I figured
the basis of professorpaddle was the installation of custom
applications to drive our community into a specific interest. In short
our community became applied to whitewater paddling. So in a sense were
an appliedCommunity. And thus the name was born.
Over the last year I have been working on breaking our framework out
into a stable platform that any club could launch as a template and
then customize to preference. Well were officially standing at the
beginnings of our launch for other clubs and regions.
The first clubs to be brought on-line will be in MD, AL, ID, and
hopefully CA. I will keep you posted as we build these communities and
regions with the tools we have developed. If you know of a club or
group that would like to try our framework please send me a PM or email
and I would be happy to set up a Demonstration Site.
Thanks again to everyone that has made this happen. I am excited to see
where this goes, and most of all excited to find new ways to benefit
and support our community and passion for the river.
Hope to see you out on the River soon.
