The snowshoe session
Monday, December 11, 2006 |
Just the other day D1 mentioned this killer little snowshoe hike
that he loved to do, so I figured that I would rent some shoes and join
him after I finished some work on sunday. So I did just that. I called
him up and Lydia and I joined him for a night time snow shoe session at
alpental. Wow were we in for a suprise.
It was killer. You start
out by cruising up this super steep hill and then you finish on top
this great ridge. The view is amazing and then boom you get the best
part. This wicked slope D1 calls tumble hill. There are trees little
cliffs and everything you could want to huck a whirl and get your jabs
in. Then roll down the hill..... So D1 tells us what to do and then
just before he takes off he goes ... Oh yea theres a river at the
bottom of the hill you don't want to roll into so try to stay in
control while your tumbling.
Of course we were ok but apparently someone else on that trail took the
spill on a different trip because the full nature of Tumble Hill was
not disclosed. As you can imagine the rest of the trail is boulder
hoping along side the creed bed. It is a blast but watch out... After a
1/5th D1 and I were slippin into the creek and falling all over the
place. Clobbered by Dr. Black Strap Again.
But hey it was a
blast. If anyone out there ever reads this I would love to hear your
comments on the Atlas 1350 or better Vs. the Tubbs or MSR's
Thanks for the Trip Dave it rocked Metal the whole way!
