Trout creek is one of those runs that a paddler wants to be a good run inspite of the fact that it just keeps saying to you that it's NOT. Steep, steeper than Money crk and very continous. There aren't many eddies to catch, just the occasional slow moving slack water in between the boulder jumble drops, no clean bedrock slides into boofs. The line is basically down the middle where the water is going but get off line and you can broach, pin, or bang through rock piles. It's got a beautiful hike up along side it's river R bank for perusing it's character which makes for easy access and scouting, tempting the hungry ones. But be forewarned, this is no classic waiting to be unveiled. All the same, if your looking for a challenge and don't mind the steep mank with the occasional quality drop then look no further. Rob thinks it's the greatest run ever....

That's totally what I thought the first time I ran that mank pile of sh*t. However, after a few more runs down, I must agree, that it is an awesome run. It starts super mellow and relaxing and then the bottom falls out. The rapids are long and continuous, and although there aren't single rapids that are super memorable, its pretty damn good. First off, Jon, I think we may be talking about different Trout Crks, which totally makes sense being that there is a Trout crk down south. The one I meant to refrence is 5miles up from Index. Haven't boated it at all. Probably never will.... ------------- |

ha ha, yeah that's the same one. also, just for a heads up... two paddles were recently lost on this cranky creek. a real nice one (foam core) and a new one. Pretty unlikely that anyone will ever see em again.... ------------- |

Yeah, trout Creek (of the Sky) never really attracted me that much, to be honest. I like big boulders, large slabs of rock, deep pools, and big whitewater features.
Never been a fan of those tiny creeks composed of thousands of tiny bowling balls of rock and gravel. Doesn't matter how steep those creeks are- I'd rather paddle some nice clean class III pool drop with interesting rapids and deep water. ------------- 🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋🐋 |

| Salmon Creek is another one up there that can be fun. Not as steep nor quite as manky as Trout but the same type of idea with smaller bouders and all. I would probably run it again, yet it is not a destintion creek. |
