contact Next Adventure in Portland.  They have cheap ones for about $50.  Sure they will ship one to you, or come on down and paddle then pick one up on your way out     http://www.nextadventure.net - www.nextadventure.net

Well, if you want top of the line, then go with a Select, hand made in France

I'd just like to pass on a quote from Werner's website

All Werner Performance and Premium blades are carefully hand crafted using a pressure molding process of high quality fiberglass or carbon weave materials and epoxy resin. Our pressure molding process has proven superior to other processes in achieving the right balance between light weight and durability.

I wonder if handmade in France is better than handmade in Sultan...

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'd be the first to say how great Werner is...but this paddle will be used to propel a beat-up winsurfing board across flat water...not mank my way down class V. Not a good enough reason to buy a handcrafted, $300 paddle IMO.
Next Adventure didn't have anything in the $50 range.
James, do you still have that broken kayak paddle that I could put a T-grip on?

I bet an old carlile kayak paddle with a t grip would work alright.

Select!  Who the F is that?

I'm no SUPer but if I was looking for a good paddle, I'd stick to a paddle manufacturer, not a windsurf fin company that has jumped on the SUP wagon. Besides, check out select's blurb:

Row standing on a surfboard is a new discipline spreading fast. Laird Hamilton, the hawaiian Waterman, indulged himself by crossing the channel on a stand-up surfboard ! Stand-up floats are specific to this technique (important volumes & lengths 12 to 13 feet) to be able to row comfortably and cope with the smallest waves.

Silly French, you paddle a SUP Board, not row it.

Now if you really wanted a high quality, handmade stick, you might want to head to Ohiopyle and buy Backland a few drinks and see what he can build for Y'ins.

And since when does being from France make something better.

Why not buy a raft paddle?
Or keep an eye on the banks behind Wave Wreck, they loose many!

Sure?

Ben: I sure do, it's all yours... It would take some work but I think you might be able to get it done. A little wood to carbonfiber transition...

Thanks for the suggestion guys...I ended up dropping the cash for the Werner paddle.

If anyone else is into beginning SUP, hit me up, I've been going to Greenlake a lot and am planning to play around at the takeout eddy of the club run on the MF Snoq soon. Then hopefully a NF Stilly run or Sultan to Monroe etc. What a fun sport and an awesome way to make easy rivers super exciting.
