So I went fishing for the first time on drift creek down in OR.  I was treated to using my first pair of felt bottomed fishing shoes.  Those suckers gripped the wet slippery rock better than any kayak shoe I have ever seen.  Has anyone tried felt shoes for kayaking?

I used to fly fish quite a bit in Montana and used a pair with my waders. They do stick well, so I'm assuming it's mostly a durability issue with the felt.

I have wondered why NRS or Teva have not jumped on this. It would seem like even if kayakers would not want felt soles due to the extra thickness, rafters would. Replacement soles are already available from fishing waders.

NRS made felt soles back in the 90's but phased them out for one reason or another.  My boss stock piled a bunch so she would always have some.  The felt soles really are no good without the spikes for walking on logs.

I used to have some felt bottomed shoes from NRS back in the mid 90's.  They worked pretty good and I liked them.  I didn't have any trouble with the felt wearing out so I'm not sure why they discontinued them.

Now that was clever.

Yeah I would think some sort of hybrid sole would be best: A felt inner sole surrounded by a rand of 5-10 stealth or whatever the climbing sole is called. Maybe have a few knoobbies stickin out of the middle-even some 'spikes' like y'ins was sayin, Jed.
