2009 Professor Paddle Ball Volunteer Sign-Up

We are two weeks away from the big event; now is the time to volunteer your time to help make the event run smoothly.

With the exception of safety boaters and first-aid, there are no requirements, so this call for volunteers goes out to boaters and non-boaters alike.  Please feel free to sign up here if you are able to help, and thanks in advance.

Trip Leaders
People willing to lead some trips down Peshastin and the Main Wenatchee.
It would also be great if someone with a raft would make themselves available to take down some of our non-boating friends and family.

Registration/Information
2-4 people to take shifts covering registration and sales activities (camping, beer card, etc.).  Important hours to cover this function will be Friday 4p-8p and Saturday morning 8a-Noon.  Please note: this role will include making sure all campers pay...

Traffic Coordination
1-2 people to help coordinate parking during peak arrival hours.

Security/Forest Fire Prevention
We are using land from a private land owner.  Having 2-4 people during the party Saturday evening to ensure that activities stay reasonable is required.  Obviously, folks signing up for this should plan on not drinking excessively.  The primary time for this job will be Saturday afternoon/evening, but some assistance may be required Friday and Sunday afternoon/evening as well.

Waste Management
4-8 people will be required to help with clean-up, both on Sunday (large clean-up effort), but also during the course of the event.  This is undoubtedly the most critical job of all...

First Aid
2-3 people are requested to assist with first aid at this event.  This would include first aid at the rodeo, at the main camp site, and at any "unofficial" events.  Requirement: You must have relevant knowledge and/or certification (EMT, Paramedic, WFR, MD, RN etc.)

NOTE: As with last year, first aid supplies are needed...

Rodeo
People
are needed to help out at the rodeo.  Head over to Tony's thread to sign up and review his needs.

Unofficial Event
2-3 People
are needed to help out with timing at a certain unoffical event which may or may not happen.  If you are good with a stop watch, please post, and you will be informed later if your services are required.

We also need Tables, a Canopy, and Garbage Cans...

Ok.  Retroactive rule.  Anyone who posts here and does not specifically request a job (or posts some nonsense like Tony and Tobin) will get automatically volunteered for trash duty.  Tobin - I'll make sure you have lots of dirty baby wipes needing picked up come Sunday.

No, its not. Let's see...

I'll be...Organizing aspects of this event, coordinating registration, cooking chili, helping lead 1-2 newbe trips, making sure scott and d1 don't burn the place down, and helping with clean up. I would have also made tee shirts if someone had bothered to submit a design.

Tony- You are now on trash duty. In particular, you will be responsible for making sure Phil's toilet is as clean when we leave as when we come.

I can help with something.  How about registration stuff Friday night?

I plan on getting there either Thursday night or early Friday.  Anyone else showing up Thursday night?  Can we?  Also, I'm looking for a buddy to kayak the main Wenatchee on Friday (5/29)

btw, when are the Peshastin and Main Wenatchee trips taking place?  Saturday morning?

When are we hoping to take friends/family rafting?  I may be able to help out, but would be bummed to have to miss other events.

No time has been set for Peshastin yet.  But since I am the trip leader, what time would you like to go?  I am open for input from all.

My suggestion is to meet at the take out at 9am Saturday or Sunday( I know that is way to early) so those interested in the downriver race/rodeo have a shot at getting there.   The lower half of the run below the hwy 97 bridge is class II+ so those seeking an easier trip can skip the upper half and join us for the lower.

More questions, some repeated from yesterday...

1) Is there a kayak Main Wenatchee trip in the works?
2) If so, when?
3) Who has peeps that would like a trip down the Wenatchee in a raft?
4) Would Saturday morning work for a raft trip?
5) Anyone going to be there early Friday who could kayak?

I will bring a roll-a-table and 10'x10' pop up canopy to contribute to the event.

To Lizs' questions.

1. Yes
2. There will almost always be someone on the Main Wenatchee so no trips usually get scheduled.
3. My whole family is coming to the event this year and one or two of them would love to get into a raft.
4. Saturday would be fine.
5. My plan so far puts us in Leavenworth Thu. afternoon and would definitely be into kayaking whatever Fri. morning.

I would love to be able to get a guest in one of the raft trips if that's at all possible.

Leif - I can help Friday evening (see earlier post)

I'm also bringing a raft and am willing to take people down the Wenatchee Saturday morning.  A few spots are already spoken for, but we may have a couple more spaces.  Took some friends down on Monday and it was a kick!

People wanting to raft should bring a PFD, shoes or sandals that will stay on their feet, sunglasses, non-cotton clothing...  I'll throw in some extra PFDs for those without.

I have 4 single women friends coming as well and would love a seat in a raft. I had access to one, BUT the floor blew up on the Lochsa this past weekend...

So needless to say, I might need some help finding a place for my girlfriends to ride down the river. I do have a raft available to me, but I have to pick it up still...More boats the merrier though!!
