I am looking for a new playboat and figured I would get some input on why people like their boats.  I am about 5'7" and about 175-180.  I have paddled an All-Star, Project 52, King Pin, and a few others.  I am looking for a boat in the 52-58 gallon range, not too long 6'-6'6" and I like it to have some speed.  I was down with the All- Star but it is time for something else.  I am interested in another Project, ZG, Rev M/L, Agent, maybe Biscuit and Smoothy (but I think I want more than 50 gal.).  Any suggestion or any one have one I can demo?

no new info for you, but if you get into a biscuit you should let me know how it goes. i am looking to ditch my kingpin.

I find the Project to bounce the highest but not as easy to river run as an Agent. Im paddling an Agent 6.2 now after my KingPin 6.2 and find it faster and more responsive in a hole or wave because it has nicer edges but the Kingpin was an easier boat for cart wheeling because of its less volume.

Our shop is in Abbotsford right accross the border by Sumas and about 25 minutes from the river. We should have a demo boat in any Wavesport or Dagger model and there wont be any taxes on boats we sell to the US.

hey Chris, you should demo a smoothy. its in the range of catagories you listed. real good edge transition, plenty pop, and fairly stable for IV. thanks to the local BS rep theres an 'xtra' smoothy in Index / goldbar. give me a shout when you get over here sometime. should note that in my judgement the boat is best used on big water play features- ie skook , trinity, rodeo, splitrockect.

   The good news is that I air freighted a few over and have a few in stock now.

Sweet vid, Tobin.

The bliss-sticks are definitely a good bet for a great play boat. If you don't want an all star, go for the project or a bliss-stick. I have not heard great things about the Rev and I know that the Agent is a slow boat. In this area, the project, rad, and smoothie are the best boats you find, especially if you counting out the all star.

edit: I don't know much about the drago rossi boats so I can't say much either way.

The bottom line is.... Try everything before you throw down a chunk of change.  There are lost of boats out there (over 87 'spud' style playboats) on the market, and no 1 (One) boat will work great for everybody.

I agree, try lots and pick what you like. A nice effect of the affore mentioned 87 playboats available is that there should be something for everyone.

Thanks for all the responses and suggestions. I think I am leaning toward the Smoothy but what is the volume? I have heard 52, 51, and closer to 50 gallons.
Oh, you guys and gals should check out some of Shapechangers new boats this spring on the Wenatchee. He has shaped some more foam and there are some sick looking hybrid river/surfboats. Last I saw in the shaping bay were two new molds and more on the way.
