The levels finally cooperated and Ryan, James and I got on CC Stilly this afternoon at a low but fun level - everything was filled in very nicely. About 310 cfs on the DOE gauge. We took our time running it, scouting everything and made it down with out incident. I've been waiting a long time to run this and i wasn't dissappointed. It's an awesome run in a great canyon.
Alert: I put up an alert on the river page and posted a pic in the gallery of a log wedged on the right bank in the fourth drop I think. It's above the double drop. If you screw up the line at all, the water will push you under the log and trap you up against the right wall. Ryan and James ran it on the left and both made it although they both nearly pinned in the middle of the drop. I set safety for them and then portaged on the left bank. The consequences for screwing up were too much for me. Heres the pic of the log.

Just an FYI, You can apparently be swept under that log and a swimmer will come out, but boats get stuck. I would not suggest it until that Log is out... pretty close call yestIday ------------- |

You missed another sweet run! We did the trip today (3/23) kinda last minute, but it was SWEET! Thanks to Dave, Bryon an Ty for leading! Level was just right for my first time down this run. Good stuff...yesterday was my first time...just a run I had never gotten around to doing. Fun stuff, though I don't think I'll go back again until it is a bit higher. Did you guys portage where the log is or run it? I chose to portage on both of my two laps, though the portage (from my point of view) really sucked. The rocks seem to be quite slippery... ------------- |
