Sounds fun, but I'll stick to 12 ounce curls for exercise.

I did get up there... It was intense.

Fish and I drove up as I-90 was just getting hammered. We ended up running into Ryan and POW but those monkeys refused to snowshoe over board. So we split off onto the circuit... we got our asses kicked quite honestly. The POW was super deep back there, plenty of big jumps and super soft landings.. We did so many flips we lost count!

Might head up again tomorrow night!

Love to go sometime next week, but be careful Fri/Sat/Sun, avalanche danger will likely be very high.

This sounds like very interesting stuff, but I don't know the first thing about snowshoes... except that I tried it once way way millions of years ago when I was a Boy Scout on great big old fashioned shoes. Is there somewhere I can check out online to learn a little bit?

There is nothing to know...other than to not step on one snow shoe with the other.  I do that way to often.  It is really quite easy...unless you are Fish...and then you find a way to turn it into an aquatic sport.

Joe you would love the circuit, and here is an added bonus.

Everytime slickhorn says he is going to make it on the next hike he bails cause there is too much snow and the conditions are just way too good! So if you head up soon you would have the added bonus of tracking out a bunch of fhreshies that ole vogt missed again.

Honestly though, there is very very little avie danger on this hike, and we have been cleaning most of the steep hiils pretty frequently. If you wanna check it out Joe, I have an extra set of snowshoes and some poles you could use. Just need some warm clothes and hikin boots!!!

Thanks James, yeah I would totally be down for that... Where is "the circuit" or is it a secret that can't be revealed online?

Joe the circuit is a snowshoe lap that we run up by alpental.

The nice thing is that it is right by the road and does not go into deep back country. I am going to hit it up with D1 tonight or this afternoon. Your welcome to jump in when ever you want. Its a rad hike with a few amazing views.

Cool, thanks. I'll start packing my hiking gear in the car when I go to work so I will be ready to go...

But if I drive up there... I might just ski instead... got skunked yesterday. Wanted to go nite ski, but didn't want to deal with "blizzard conditions" that I was reading about on the weather reports.

I hear this hike "The Circuit" is getting quite spicy... like a good idea to pack a rope.
Hard to imagine how one might self-rescue if one were to take a "fall" into that creek bed that is traversed with snow walls 12' tall.
Anybody know if we crested the record snowfall for a season total yet?

Not yet Mike, but Stevens is at 155% above norm for the season. Should be a epic melt!

Current max year amount is 152" the ski area reports 141" but we know thats not right.
Here is a site that list record highs and lows for Wa passes.
It shows current depth, and this is pack amounts, not snow fall totals.

Sure?

I use this site for snow data... Its gives amounts measured in water content... more important that how "deep" the snow is for us boaters. Also lists where we are in comparison to average snowpack for this time of year.
