The run was pretty good.  We drove straight to the take out but the put in gate was closed.  We drove around trying to see if a road got closer to the river but it didn't.

We decided to hike in past the gate following the power lines.  There is a river access road about a mile or so down the road that leads to the Powerhouse and put in.  Pretty long walk but not too bad.

The first 2 rapids are straight forward Class III and then is Last Nasty.  The river makes a bend to the right and you need to scout right.  There are some nasty sieves on river left and there was a strainer in river middle in the middle of the rapid.

Since daylight was low we opted to portage the first half and ran the last ledge which was great.

Question to those who have run Last Nasty... is there always a strainer there?  It looked totally doable but we didn't want to probe it since nobody had run it.  The trunk of the tree was forming a small hole right after a little wave just to the left of the line.

Right after Last Nasty were 2 tubes tied together pinned against a rock.  Nobody was around and was an eerie scene below LN.  How the hell did they get there?   Who was on them?  However, there was a cooler of Molsen ICE and we gladly took one for the road.  Cheers!

The rest of the run was great III+ and some small holes to play in.  We found Little Paradise and it was good.  A little more water than 700 cfs and it would be great.  I cartwheel to the right and the hole is setup for left cartwheels so I was a little bummed.  BUT I did link up some left 'wheels and everyone else had some good sessions.

We continued down and took out at 8:45.  Whew, just before the sun set.

Don't get me started on work hours. If I remember correctly, someone just recently bummed out of work for at least a week to do nothing but paddle. Yes, I'm jealous.

I am pretty sure that gate is down to the river @ the powerhouse is always closed.  I have never seen it open, at least during the handfull of times there...

Ryan,  the gate is open sometimes during work hours. It's not a good idea to park down there, but it makes it easy to ferry gear.
The Strainer in LN isn't new, but the line for the upper part is on the right so it has never been in play for me.  At 800 and lower there are allot of seives and its a little pinny, go back when it is above 1200, it gets pushy, but it cleans up allot.
  Cheers on the beer!!
