This is the The Sauk is Back up! Begginer Welcome discussion thread. Please post any questions below.

Remember the actual Trip Details are located on the The Sauk is Back up! Begginer Welcome | Trip Page

The Sauk is back up in the big water range again. I am planning a trip meeting at Clear Creek Bridge at noon on Sat. I got room for at least one begginer in the two man boat if anyone is interested. Let me know if you are coming (especially if you want a seat in the two man boat as space is limited!).

Sweet!  I call the single IK for Emily.  Thanks Kyle!

We're going to be camping out Friday night in the area if anyone wants to join let me know and we can find a larger campsite than what I have planned.

Also, heading over towards Snoq. Pass saturday for the MTS race.  I'm thinking about sneaking away from my team after the mountain bike run (my leg of the race) and running some laps on FITW if someone is around.

I'm heading to the Sauk this weekend also, but to raft with Alpine.  We meet to raft at 9 though, so probably not done by noon...

I wanted to kayak it after if I had someone around who knew it and could babysit me.  How long is the run?  Could I still meet you all at noon?  Just a little later?

Hey Kyle - how was that hole footage from last week?

Warning to other paddler's - When Kyle suggests a line with a great boof with a clean landing at the bottom of one of the rapids, paddle like hell to avoid that line.  That "boof rock" is a big hole with some deep corner pockets.
Last week's score was hole 2, paddlers 0.  It's time for a rematch!!!
See ya'll out there - Dave

How does the Sauk compare to the MM?

Henry,

It is more difficult than the MM, but about on par with the Sky if you walk boulder drop and don't follow me (appearently).

By the way Dave, I made it out of that hole in my boat. That would make the score at least .5 for paddlers, 1.5 for hole if not 1 to 1.

I got nothing better to do today than sit around in scabicidal cream (ahh the joys of working with the homeless and the tweakish!). So I will try to get the footage up today.

Hi
We're new to this group and are thinking about going on this trip. I used to boat the Salk back in the late 70's.
My son Cameron was the 14 yr old on the Wenatchee PP trip last month. Was anyone going to the Salk on that trip?

Camrun,

We have plenty of people going. Most of them are old hands at this river by now, so it should be a pretty good trip to get reaquainted with the river.

Samson, I will have my new creeker, so watch out! Kyle, I have a brand new paddle for you, see you tomorrow. Hope I remember how to get there! It's right out a Darrington if I'm not mistaken? It's been about 10 years.

Dave,

Thanks for picking that up! Saved me a long drive down south. Just take I5 to HWY 530 in Arlington, HWY 530 to Mt. Loop HWY in Darrington. The takeout is just a couple miles outside of town across from the Clear Creek Campground next to the bridge.

See you there!

Katie,

My guess would be that with the shore lunch you will still be on the river when we are meeting at the put in. If you can make it great, but we run this almost weekly so there will be other trips.
