The story is actually not very exciting... I was going through the slot to the left of the pin rock below house rapid and my paddle decided to stay in the slot.  It came loose right away and RM gave it a good chase but lost it at Horseshoe.  I managed to eddy out after some furious hand paddling.  In hindsite I think I should have risked some facial damage and gone for the paddle as it had all of three runs on it.  So sad.
