A note from Dave Mainer regarding new logs on the Green, especially relavent for paddlers on Headworks, but possibly the gorge as well:

Several of us did the headworks 4 or 5 weeks ago and a huge pile of logs - I
estimated 50 in number - had been dumped on the artificial gravel bar (put
in site).  We had to put in below where they placed the logs.  I'm assuming
that now, after the recent high water release, that many of those logs have
been swept downstream and imagine that many of them have been swept into the
engineered log jams making them even more dangerous.

Play safe kids!

I was on ths run two weeks ago.  The log pile at the put in is gone.  I was expecting to find logs throughout the river.  This was not the case.  The enginered log jams are a little larger, but are easily passable.

So that's something to ponder: where the hell are all these logs going? If they aren't clogging up the river, what good are they for salmon habitat, which is the stated reason for putting them in there in the first place?

Another things about the logs is that they are painted with bright colors so the Corps can tell when they released a particular log. Gotta love those neon log jams.
