This is the SF Snoq discussion thread. Please post any questions below.

Remember the actual Trip Details are located on the SF Snoq | Trip Page

This will be a leisurely trip down the SF Snoq, probably more than one trip down in fact.  Time will be spent trying to catch eddies, practice ferrying, etc.

There is a small chance this trip will no go.  Levels have been somewhat crazy and unpredictable this week.  SF Snoq is predicted to rise to 1100 by 4AM Sat and be back at 850 or so at 11AM.  Either of these should be fine levels but if our storm tonight doesn't happen or it sends levels above say 1500, we may reconsider this trip in the morning.  So check PP first thing in the AM.

Lauri (my trainee) is a definite to paddle tomorrow too so we'll both be there.

Well, the rain is sure fickle this week.  Predicted flows haven't come in but, while it will be a little on the bony side, we should be fine.  Currently at 541 cfs, we are probably looking at about 500 cfs or so at put-in time.

See you all @ 10:30 @ the take-out!

I just moved out here from Maine and am a beginning paddler, have all my gear and think I can handle the II+.  I can't roll yet, but can wet exit, will this be a big problem for you guys?  Been looking for a beginner/int trip and hope this one happens.  Peace, George

I think she forgot to ask her partner before posting this .  She should have said "I'll be there if my wonderful, intelligent, kind, thoughtful, caring, handsome, strong, awesomekayaking husband agrees".  We'll see what she can come up with to make for the penalty points.

This is bizarre.  It is an old trip from a year ago that came back to life.  What is going on with this???

THERE IS NO TRIP (ATLEAST THAT I AM LEADING) ON JAN 6.

James - what is up here??  I received a note that someone joined this trip (a year after the fact).

Yeah, I saw it posted for jan. 6, guess that's a glitch...  but, are you guys doing the II+ tomorrow?  I'd be up for that if you're up for beginner company

This was a trip from last year.  I have no idea why it showed up as a 2008 trip or why someone could join a trip that was in the past.  Seems like a bug.

In any event, I don't know of any II+ trip coming up.  The SF Snoq is a great II+ run though hasn't been in very often this year.  The one time I ran it, there was quite a bit of wood in it - perhaps, though, some of that washed through when we had the high rains a few weeks ago.  I mention this because last year this was the perfect trip for a beginner looking to improve.  But, I think this is not a great run if you don't have a roll and it especially isn't a good run now, with the wood.

You might try going to a few pool sessions - either at SRK or through the WKC (washington kayak club).  There are always people there willing to help you with a roll.

Good luck
