Yakima River. "Epic Yakima Tube Float" or something, currently being orchestrated for 8/16 on FB.

Looks like a heck of a party. In a strange way it sort of bums me out that becoming a whitewater kayaker has made it impossible for me to be part of a drunken, carefree flotilla cruising down class II quickwater in vinyl pool toys without the constant worry about someone on the trip drowning in a strainer (or something) ruining the fun.

Probably requires just a touch of clarification. When I lived in Colorado and saw all of the dudes with zero avy gear and/or training dropping into wind-loaded slopes at the top of Loveland Pass, one of the thoughts I had was "A half hour of avy training would pretty much kill off the carefree fun that crew is having." I'm probably overestimating the folks in the picture, but I suspect a small dose of the awareness that most kayakers develop regarding river hazards would have a similar effect.

Ignorance is bliss.

Well nothing beats chugging beer straight from your boot in the woods/side of the road after an epic run on some classic Washington whitewater!

Let's just hope for their sake that they don't drift into the side channel where HOG has a set up one of their stealth hatcheries/hybridization sites. Also heard that NT will be out there side drifting sand shrimp in his Parvati that day and will retain whatever he hooks.
