I've been waiting for a weekend with flows like this on this reach, I heard it is pretty fun when it's up. Hoping to bolt down the trail and look for wood early, then a scouting lap followed by a fun lap. Anyone? It's always up when I'm working.

I heard 11 at the take out.

Only issues I've heard of are wood, though I heard some of it has moved and isn't as much an issue. That was the report from someone's run Thursday. Tomorrow? Who knows, the level is already climbing quite well.

George, you could meet us and join the second lap, yes? I don't know when the first lap will finish, but after noon I bet.

Sounds good, if I'm not there by 11:00 I'll try to scramble to be there for lap number 2. But if somehow I'm not, don't wait. I'm assuming the take out is 436 st bridge.

Meeting people at the take out (bridge, I think) at 1 to walk the trail while the level drops a bit more and running if all looks good.

Wood report? Did you run it?

All the much talked about wood was either covered or gone.

There's a couple new logs a hundred yards or so below the first foot bridge. This is right across from the little amphitheater that is on river right. Though we had scouted from the river left trail before the run and saw these logs, I think they would pretty easily be seen by alert class III paddlers. We eddied out on the left below the bridge, above the wood and close enough to get a good look at the wood. It's a wide shot on the left and was easy to pass the log and get back to the middle to avoid some questionable water features below the logs on the left.

I think the Alice gauge was reading 2400ish by the time we put on(3pmish). I would call the difficult parts of the run easy to moderate class III. It was nothing like hard class III. Though the water was pumping, it was still pretty manageable for class III paddlers. It had that pushy feel like water does when it's getting out of the banks and into the trees but it's still sorta mostly a class II run, getting a little out of hand. :-)

Though there were fewer eddies, our group of 5 still managed to all eddy out together several times and even a couple of times in the canyon.

It's all pretty cool as long as you don't bumble into one of the nasty holes or pourovers, one of which bears a striking resemblance to Cookie Monster on the Middle Middle(is that Surprise?).

According to the Bennet book, Cookie Monster is located in a rapid called "Surprise".  You are correct Dale!

A good name for that rapid :)

I love that boof. Especially when it's not a boof but a, "sh*t, there's nowhere to take a stroke."
