Hi Everyone,

I am from Chilliwack, BC, and I am going to be spending the Easter long weekend (March 29 - April 1) at Rasar park with the family. Would love to get out and do some paddling while I am down there! Anyone out there have a class II-III trip planned during that time that wouldnt mind if I tagged along? Been paddling for about a year and I have a solid roll. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Dylan

Dylan a group of us are paddling that weekend.
What BC rivers have you paddled?
I'll let you know where we will be, you can decide
if it suits you.

Hi Bill.

I have paddled the Chilliwack River alot. I have done the upper canyon run at lower levels, but mostly the classic run. I have done the Thompson River a few times as well. Thats all I have run actually, but I have done both quite a few times. That would be great! Let me know and if it works with my schedule, and your group is comfortable with me joining, I would love to paddle along.

Cheers,
Dylan

Hi Bill,

I am going to be in Anacortes now, family plans have changed. Are you guys running anything within that area this weekend?

Hey Dylan -

If you are into mtn biking and will be in Anacortes make sure to bring your bike. Loads of quality single track in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately I am not into mtn biking. Wish I was! But I can only afford so many hobbies. Maybe I will be able to borrow one from a friend and do some trail riding like you have suggested.

Cheers,
Dylan

Hi Dylan

For Easter weekend We will be paddling the Sauk.
This is about 25 miles east of Arlington.
From Anacortes go to I5 south to the signs for Arlington
then Darrington. We are meeting at the IGA in Darrington at 10:30
on Sat morning. We are camping that evening.
I am also trying to paddle, and camp on Friday, but will decide
when I get a commitment.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the invite! In my other post on the other thread I asked what section of the Sauk your group will be paddling, and roughly how long of a paddle it is. Could you provide me with that info so I can build a bit of a schedule and know roughly what time I could expect to be back in Anacortes by?

Cheers,
Dylan

Is there any rivers flowing up in your neck of the woods?  I have time off coming up here in a bit...When do rivers start to really flow around there?

The Chilliwack river is lower but very runable right now. You can keep an eye on the levels here: http://www.wateroffice.ec.gc.ca/graph/graph_e.html?stn=08MH103. As long as the level is above 1.0 the Classic run is nice, and the Canyon is nice above 1.3. Canyon is a tough run though, so you may want to read up on that (not sure what level of a paddler you are). You can check vankayak.org or FVWW.ca for writeups on rivers around here. Not exactly sure what else is in right now; depends on what class you are looking for.

Hope this helps,
Dylan
