Hi y'all,
I'm going to be visiting Seattle for my daughter's 25th birthday and would like to paddle some of the nearby rivers. I am experienced on class II-III rivers. I am planning on bringing all of my kayaking gear except for a boat,paddle, and spray skirt. What I am interested in knowing is:
1. Where can I rent or borrow a whitewater boat from?
2. Where can I hook up with local paddlers or river guide service to take me onto a river. AND
3. Should I bring something lighter than a drysuit to paddle in.

I'll be arriving August 9th and will be available to paddle August 11 to 18. I'd love to get out on the river...

It's been a bit warm for a drysuit (in fact, I've been paddling in a shorty top and neoprene shorts the past few days) so I think a drysuit would be overkill. I believe you can rent a boat and stuff from Aquasports in Redmond, or from Outdoor Adventure Center in Index, WA. I think OAC might have some sort of class going on this week as well. Check this site for trips to Powerhouse or Big Eddy and I think you'll be set.

It has been super-hot here but I think it's going to cool down, I used my drysuit last weekend when it was 80 degrees because I knew I'd be on the river late and was glad I had it - so if it's hot, like Lisa said, a drytop is fine but if you're not sure and have the room I'd be taking my drysuit too. When you're here should be a good time for a lower Skykomish River run, I think from Cabledrop down to Big Eddy would be good http://www.professorpaddle.com/rivers/riverdetails.asp?riverid=587 - http://www.professorpaddle.com/rivers/riverdetails.asp?riverid=587 if it's not too low, or you could do the Index to Cabledrop section and portage Boulder Drop. Maybe post on here as you get closer to that date and see who's doing what or who would be available to go.
