I totally missed out on the action today on the Green river. But if anyone would like to run the upper green after work on Tuesday then please, hit me up. I'll be at the Paradise take out at around 4:45.

If it drops below 2500, and you can meet at 5:30, I'm in (I only have slow, tippy, little boats).

Can you go earlier than 445? Like 4pm would be perfect.

4 pm would be perfect. I agree. I don't get off of work until four. I'm leaving straight from work to the take out. I ran it on Friday and didn't put in until like 5:30. That worked fairly well. It only took us 1hour 15minutes. It was basically a sprint run and we were done.

By-the-way, those flows were at 3k+. If it's lower then it'll take longer to run obviously. I have a discovery pass and we could put in at the park which cuts a little time out.

my last post may have been a little confusing. 4 is a better time but I won't be there until 4:45 or so due to work. If I make it before you guys put in then sweet. If not, then I understand. The spring is still young and the summer is yet to come.

I may be out there. I may be at the put in at 5pm. Of course, If Jim wants to meet in the early a.m. ( like
6 or 7a) i'm down too. But I don't get done w/ wrk till 4:30p.

It ended up being pretty action packed out there at 3200 today. Everyone should start watching their step a little from Mercury on down through Let's Make A Deal at these flows and higher. Its very boatable, but the Nozzle is starting to get beefy, and a swim there could send you into some serious hazards below:

The BIG FAT LOG that was broached on Stano Rock has apparently shifted but is still blocking the Right Channel (Door #1). I think that when this current batch of melt got released from the dam, and it raised up to 3200 or whatever, the right end must've floated and bobbed enough for the middle to unseat itself from its perch, slipping in front of it against its upstream face. The left half of the BIG FAT LOG was underwater today at 3200, but sticking out into the Left Channel also (Door #2).

POSSIBLY BLOCKING BOTH CHANNELS once the water drops back down to "normal" flows. Stay left after the Left Wall exiting the Nozzle zone and proceed w/ caution till you can see what's happening there.

I'm going to be getting out to inspect the whole let's Make A Deal zone at various flows. There is also a smaller piece of wood on the upstream face of the rock that flanks Door #2. It protrudes into the channel a few feet or less.

Door #3 (far left) is a more advisable route till we know exactly how things have shifted. I can't say I got to look at the wood because we had a swimmer and I was preoccupied helping him to get as far left as possible. He did some hard core cross current swimming. Like a champion. So my advise if someone swims the nozzle is to try to get the swimmer and the boat to the left. To the outside of the turn. The swimmer should also know before hand to head left. Yes there are rocks and hazards over there as well but the current is more broken up.

The rest of the run above and below there is clean and fine.

Actually, Coal Car Rapid and a non descript rapid below each have a stick or two hung up, but it shoildn't be in the way.

Ya, but yer playboat has a bit more speed than mine.

Looks like I'll be dragging a bit today, so I won't be in for the upper.

I'll be at Paradise at 5pm.

Keep in mind that its higher than yesterday. Yesterday was high enough to serve up some action to a coupla boaters. Both between the Nozzle and Let's Make A Deal. If you aren't familiar with it at those flows, you should probably get out and scout the Nozzle.

In or out of your boat, you want to be as far left as possible at L.M.A.D.

Ok see yall out there...

Well, I agree w/ where you are coming from, and LMAD is the rapid's name, but, others have refered to the rock in there as "Stano Rock".

I see both sides of that coin:
On one hand people are uncomfortable naming the rock that claimed Mike. But on the other hand, if it alerts others to the possibilities there, however slim, well, it could be argued that that is a good way to honor Mike Stano. I'm not trying to say it should or should not be called this or that, but that rock took a life and deserves a name. Many other features on rivers elsewhere have been similarly named to serve to inform the newbies of the hazard and the history, so that history hopefully is not repeated. Knowing is half the battle.

Go Joe !!!!

I agree, I've been thinking about it all day. It is not a bad thing to serve the purpose of preparing others and newbies for hazards.  like on the South fork Payette the rapid named Blackadar. same thing... I guess.  and Stano was a legend too..

I guess just being a personal friend people that never knew mike it's sounds wierd when describing the rapid.  "oh yeah man we went down and barely missed Stano rock , it was gnarly dude..."

I dont know why I cant feel proud about calling it Stano rock ?  It was a tuff day...sorry
I wouldn't mind others thoughts on it ???

Hope the rest of y'all had as blissfully fun run as we did! 3800 is a really good level on the Green.

Didn't spot that paddle though I wasn't exactly searching the eddies for it...
