Is the Elwha still good to go during the dam removal? What's that run like?

It sounds like the road is closed upstream of Altair Campground.

The run down is pretty interesting class 2-2+ with occasional wood depending on the year. Scenery and wildlife are great - I've seen lots of harlequin ducks on this stretch, which are beautiful birds.

There's a nice rapid upstream from Altair that drops you into flat water in a pretty little 100yard long canyon, but I don't think you can access it now until the road opens back up.
