Just got turned on to the Professor Paddle website and wanted to introduce myself to the community. I am relatively new to whitewater kayaking, but have done quite a bit of sea kayaking and canoeing in the past. Recently took a five-day whitewater class from the fine folks at NWOC (actually, I took the same class last year as well since it is such a fun vacation) and spent a week kayaking the Wenatchee and Methow rivers and am now looking to get out and paddle some more.
I would love to get out and meet some new folks and do some new runs - anything up to some easy class III. I have a pretty reliable roll (thanks to a lot of unplanned impromtu river practice) and am eager to try some new stuff. So any of you other newer/intermediate boaters lurking on here or any of you experts who want to do a more mellow run once in a while - hit me up.

Welcome Brian, always good to have more boaters in the community.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for trips on the Sky. Although there are some more difficult rapids on the run you can easily walk them and bit off what you want to chew as you learn and improve. The green river is another great one, the upper gorge might be a bit more than you want right now but a great place to learn is to put in above the park and then take out at the last spot in Kanaskat palmer. That will give you several nice class III rapids to work on and a very short shuttle, something you can walk and do laps on if you wanted to.

Welcome, in addition to trips on professorpaddle look on washingtonkayakclub.org on their calendar. They usually have some intermediate level trips planned.

@James - thanks for the tip about the headworks of the Green - though it looks super low now and kind of unpredictable, it sounds like a great run to keep an eye on. As for the Sky, I have been trying to get a run in (probably Railroad Bridge down to Big Eddy, or maybe start just below Boulder Drop), but just dont know anybody else to go with. The flows are dropping every day, but it still looks good so I am not giving up yet.
@PanchosPigTaxi - definitely have looked at the WKC as well. They have a Wenatchee trip planned for this Saturday (20th), but when I contacted the trip leader last week, nobody else but me had signed up yet, so it was looking like it might get canceled.
I definitely appreciate the warm welcome and the tips - definitely helpful while trying to make the jump from a structured class to some independent paddling.

See if you can scrounge up some people for the Wenatchee - still lots of fun to be had here even at the low levels.

Send me an email with your availabilities and I'll see if I can get some people together later next week to run the big eddy section (railroad bridge to big eddy). I'm on summer break starting this weekend from the UW, so I should be able to go paddle some class II to III rivers as often as my gas budget allows me to, and I'm always looking for more paddling buddies. I've just started paddling more class III runs in the last several months, I've been boating for a year, and have a solid roll. We are paddling up there this weekend, but it's already a large group with just enough experience to deal with us newer boaters in the likely event someone swims on the class III sections.
