Hey,
So, after much deliberation about what to run when things are flooded....my decision: stay home Yeah, I feel weak about it, but I bet it will be ok. How many others of you thought about paddling today, saw the gauges, and stayed home? Jim |

The reason I think I must agree with you ( yeah you are being weak as hell )
...is that you seemed so stoked to get out earlier-
what happened?
what influenced you to change your mind?
wather too high? go find an easier stretch (not the Sky at 60k-I tried that and it didn't work for me
 ) no one to boat with? find and easy stretch you can comfortably run solo (not the Sky at 60k-I tried that and it didn't work for me
)anyway, I think even some nearby class II you could get out on for a few quick hours might do the trick- once you get the boat loaded and on the road you know you'll be stoked to be over the inertia bell curve and on the other side.

Oooh, called out. JP...you know, this morning I was in the mood for some good ole West Virginia micro creekin'. Back home, that's what we did when things were this high. Seems I haven't found that here. Someone said those little drainages are too full of wood here. Maybe so. I needed to get an earlier start than this to have gotten anything cool done today. Work tonight.
Yeah, I've thought of running flooded class II, but bagged that. Reason? General lameness and weighed it. Will get my snow tires off today, finish my HR block visit, finish the last load of laundry, glue the antler back on my decorative deer....you know, important stuff...and sleep some before a night shift tonight. Having spent some time in the NE and heard tales of local micros, I thought that something similar might be possible near Seattle, and actually scouted the East Fork of Issaquah Creek (paralells 90 from Highpoint Way down to Issaquah) for just such an occasion, since it looked like it was about a mile long and has some gradient.
Put in at high-point, take out behind an office complex in Issaquah and wave to Lumbergh at the Initech HQ at the takeout.
Actually looked like it could be a fun little diversionary run when everything is blown out, but alas - the wood situation was not good.
I think the same would be true of lots of Micros in NE - but there's a crew of beaver-folk that tend to the runs out there in a way that might be tougher to pull of in the NW - particularly with the legitimate concern for the effect on salmon habitiat, etc.
Fun to contemplate though. Anyone else contemplated any urban/suburban micros in the Puget Sound? ------------- -Jay |

I got your text but was busy. The one thing that is reasonable is the lower gorge. Its 6200. I have run this up to 10000. The first few drops get your attention then backs off. No matter what you choose swims would not be good!! Bill Petty  ------------- RPMMAX |
