Hey folks,

I'm new to the northwest and want to get into the paddling scene out here. I moved from western North Carolina and now I'm on Bainbridge Island. Is there anyone else who whitewater kayaks on the island besides me?

I'm generally a IV-V boater, but I've been out of my boat for a bit. Is anyone headed to some III-IV stuff in the near future? and wouldn't mind a tag along?

Cheers
~James

There used to be a boater on here named Leif who was from Bainbridge. He still boats and watches these forums, so maybe he will get in touch with you.

If you are free there is a easier class II/III trip on the Green River set for Wednesday. Maybe a few of us could be talked into running the Gorge (III/IV) while we are out there.

Welcome!

Kyle

From one southeastern transplant to another, welcome!  I'll probably be heading for some class III / IV on Friday or Saturday.  I'll keep you informed on what we decide to run.

Hi James!  My husband and I are new(ish) to the area too...moved to Silverdale/Bremerton area in July.  Bainbridge is actually across the water from our house.  We used to boat in NC all the time.

We're prob going this weekend...  Here's my e-mail:  mailto:ckossov@gmail.com - ckossov@gmail.com .   Hope you're enjoying it out here so far!  -Cathy

I would be down for boating this weekend, if anyone is interested. Somewhere around class III would be great.

What run around here tends to be the most popular this time of year?

Thanks for the warm welcome..

The most reliable river is the Skykomish.  There is a III - (IV) stretch and a II / III stretch.  It's the river that runs all year round for the most part.  I may head out of the the Upper Green Gorge again this weekend if the levels are good.  It's class III / IV.

I wouldn't say the Skykomish is all that reliable. It still owes me 20 bucks that lent it over a year ago.

I live in the Gig Harbor area. There are a few of us down here as well. Feel free to PM me when you want to go out or my email at rcgibbert9@aol.com (remove the 9). The Green is a good place for 2+/3; 3-4 and straight 3.

I'm game! As a matter of fact I was off the couch/Lazy-Ass chair more today than yesterday from a bad cold, so I might get in a day or even two before next week. M or the above mentioned email. We South Sounders need to get together.Think I should be good by Saturday.

I'm game. I'm headed from Bainbridge, and thought I would come down through Brimmeron instead of riding the fairy. I can drive, I have a rack on the wagen and I get good mpg.

Just remember to be careful of the new wood a little ways below the Nozzle.  It might be covered up or just barely sticking out.
