I am going up this weekend...I've got a 1br unit with plenty of space. If anyone would like to come up for some end-of-season boarding/skiing, give me a call...
I'll be heading up Friday late afternoon, and coming back Monday morning early.

Hugo, you are welcome to come up, but you'd have to give up your identity.

Actually, I think that hiding behind a fake identity puts you into that category.

Besides, I know of and ride terrain at Whistler that is a step above any of the resorts in Washington, that you have to skin for in Washington. Now, if I only ride that terrain in the powder, and won't touch it when it is icy might make me a pussie...then so be it.

too big of a pussy to work for any turns, "if it aint lift served, I ain't riding it!" same reason you will never get into creeking, because you are lazy and do not want to put in the effort required to get into "the goods."

Don't do it POW, I know you are a shredder, so I will look beyond this incident this time, but not again. Having to skin to get to good terrain is mother nature's way of keeping the string bean dumb asses from getting into the goods and probably hurting themselves.

Just not sure where "Texan" comes into it. Are you saying Texans are pussies? I certainly hope not.
I hike "side country" all the time, and have started to use the splitboard this year. I am taking the touring on slowly, as I am trying to build my avalanche knowledge. I believe you commented on this in one of your early posts as "hugo".
How do you define creeking? I guess, based on your definition, I am not creeking if I am not doing a significant hike into the river - or does creeking require continuous class V to be counted as creeking? Let's here your definition? Let's hear the meter stick with which we ordinary boaters who don't make films and aren't sponsored can be excluded from the "creeking" crowd.

So I am up here at Whistler, getting the goods in the backcountry, and while I was heading up the mountain to get to the secret powder stashes, I think I spotted Hugo riding the magic carpet on the bunny hill...

besides, shouldn't you be out in the village, trowling for pune? drunk college chics on springbreak...tell them you are finch from American Pie.

Spent the morning on spanky's and grey zone/cbc trees, and the afternoon hiking above lakeside bowl.
The ausies in whistler are dirty. That may fly for hugo, but not for me.
I think I saw Hugo hanging out in front of Rendezvous with one of those snowboard jackets the kids wear - you know - with the plaid and the fake fur on the hood.

Ashley - Great Pow here at whistler - particularly when hiking. I'll take Blackcomb's terrain over Hood's any day.
Jimmy - Spanky's refers to Spanky's ladder, access to Ruby, Garnet, Sapphire, and Diamond bowls above Blackcomb glacier.
Oh, I almost forgot. As I was boarding down to Blackcomb base to take my board in for some ptex work (hit a rock covered by pow), I may have spotted Hugo hanging out in the tube park, sporting a jacket with a fur trimed hood...

For those who dis on the skiing in WA, have you hucked the annies? Have you ridden everything at Baker? have you conquered the entire crystal BC? (not saying that I have, just wondering)

I would take Whistler too, but its freakin' expensive, and the terrain here is fantastic. We had better snow than you did. No contest. I've skiied pow days at Whistler, this was better.

No doubt, I just had three sweet days in a row and never went more than two hours from my house. Alpental backcountry was sick today, super light, thigh deep and untracked everywhere.

KTW - just to be clear - not saying anything bad about WA - just hood. Stevens is my home mountain, and I need someone to show me the goods at Alpental and Crystal.

yes, yes you said that already. Hope you got that p-tex stuff taken care of, I would hate for your scratched board to be the cause of any carnage that may occur this season. Everybody hates equipment failures.

Yep, took it right down to the core on the lateral moraine on Blackcomb glacier when boarding down from East Col, so I figured I should get it fixed before too much moisture gets in.
Had great views today of Spearhead glacier - Spearhead isn't backcountry I am willing to solo...

So, here are a small selection of pictures from the Whistler trip and BC interior trip last week. Perhaps Hugo can correct me if I got any of the labels wrong.
Looking towards Spanky's ladder/Blackcomb glacier from Horstman peak:

Looking back at the fresh tracks after the ride down from the hike:

Hike to top of Blackcomb glacier entrance above wind lip (west col Blackcomb peak):

Looking at Whistler mountain from top of Blackcomb glacier:

Top of East Col (above Blackcomb Glacier) looking at the Spearhead traverse:

Top of East Col, Spearhead Glacier is around the corner to the left, Circle Glacier in front:

Disease Ridge from East Col (DOA chute a short hike up to the right):

Looking down Blackcomb Glacier from East Col:

Looking back up (Right to Left: Husume Flank, East Col/Spearhead Traverse, Blackcomb Peak)

Vernon from Silver Star:

View out from top of Sun Peaks (Hike to top of Tod Mountain):

Kamloops Lake:

Low Water Frog Wave, or shall I say small hole:

Wow, I haven't popped in here in a while but now I find out a PP member's home mountain is Stevens? Damn, we should get in some ski days next season. Up for some spring touring in may and beyond?

Oh, I usually do a few trips to Whistler and Hood in spring when all the local areas close. Don't know about space but let me know if you're interested. Last year we ended up sleeping in the parking lot to save on cash but this year I'd like to try to get as many people as possible and split the cost of sleeping under a roof.
