Better get it while you can before they shut it down again...

Are there any problems at Paradise parking? They locked the gate on us the other day with a keyed lock and chain. Bolt cutters were needed.

Well, how was it? Shoulda been good-- guage is reading 3600 now. This whole next week may provide some more opportunities to see the Upper Green gorge in its true glory.

Just sayin... Get while its good.

It was good. Great start to the Green season. Get it while it's fresh.

I only ran down to the end of three boof rapid then walked out. It was too big for me in a play boat. The guys I was with beat me down to Paradise and were gone when I stoped by. It must have been fast and furious.

Cool- you guys who completed the run: what were you paddling? Playboats or creekboats?

I wouldn't be caught on the Green in a Playboat above 3,000.
But then again, the toyboat isn't my craft of choice or mode of river indulgence. It just doesn't do it for me, so I never spend time in one.

Jeremy ran it with us last year at 7,500 in his playboat. But Jeremy is more than somewhat of a bad ass. I wouldn't recommend just anyone hopping in a playboat at the higher levels in the Green Gorge. He had little support from us in our creekboats (I was in my Diablo), because he would get detained and chundered by everything and we would end up way downstream of him. He was stoked on tangling with the big holes though, and sought them out.

Personally, I think the Upper Gorge is good fun in a standard creekboat above 3k. A quality riverbed on the few occassions there's water in it. Just remember that once the river is flowing 4K, things get serious enough. Know you can stay in that boat, or don't put on.

Davie good call buddy, nothing wrong with knowing your limits... I changed 3 diapers yesterday evening, you could have stopped by we have plenty to go around.

We were in creekers. Yeah it would be a long swim.

Dave, what happened with the locked gate? Was it the property owners? And has the gate been repaired?

"That boated a lot better than it looked." "It always does until it doesn't."

The gate seems fine.

I intentionally ran the river with the intent to walk out. I wanted to scout an exit stratigy with taking out at either Pipeline or three rapids above pipeline. It was fun and I learned some new short runs that are possible to do solo. So, I did not poop my pants with fear like you refer to down below James.
