I'm interested in doing a little work at the split rock takeout and was wondering if there was other interest out there that would like to help or plan something. Or if there are any types of funds out there for this kind of stuff.
It would be nice to drop a yard or two of gravel and sand to fill in the pot holes and level it out a little. It would be quick and easy work with a handful of people and a truck and trailer.

The takeout or the Pull out on the eastbound lane? OAC is the landmanager of the take out so before you go spending money on gravel you might check with them first.
If your talking the pull out on on the east bound lane, that would be DOT territory so you mgiht not want to do it when someone would see you making repairs to state highway. Not really sure the rules around this sort of thing, but you might want to look into that before you find yourself having to explain yourself to the powers that be.
At the very least it's a project that needs to be done.

Jed raises a good point. It's been done in the past by a good Samaritan community loving kayaker. I don't think it will be an issue if done quickly and quietly. Probably best to wait till after 4pm as most road crews are off by then. Local sheriff probably wouldn't say a word and but state patrol may react differently. I'll be glad to bring a couple shovels and lend a hand if someone can cart in the gravel.
