Not a usual river for this crowd, but would anybody be interested in the Nisqually on Sunday?  It's listed as a III, but there's really only one rapid that's a III; the rest are II or maybe a couple are II+ (and it's not chock full of rapids at that).  It's pretty though and, most importantly, it's close to my home :)

I was thinking of meet ing at the power station takeout at 11 if anybody's game.

Actually, I stand corrected :

Its about 1020 right now, which is listed as a boatable flow. I guess it would probably wash out with too much water as wide and flat as it is. I only ran it once in 2005 or 2006 with Dangerous Dave. As I recall he kept mumbling about sausage...

Anyway, I doubt I'll rally but there is a slim possibility. You can always come up n run the Lower Green- PPeeps be runnin it all weekend, sounds like

Throw some numbers out there for me to sink a paddle blade into:what's "high" (for "big bouncy waves"). 'Cause with a little beta, I might be tempted to check it out sometime...

I wish I could, I'd really just like to run it to check it off my list of rivers to try once, but I have finals this coming week. You wouldn't be planing on running it again between the 18th and the 30th would you? I could go any day of the week between then.

I actually run the Nisqually quite often because it's so close for me.  Any time you feel like doing it, put a post up on this site and I'd love to join you.

Ted- will do. I have a friend Greg in Oly who does the Nisqually a lot. We'll ping you for sure next time which will be soon after Xmas. I like it as it allows me to practice a lot of basic stuff, tho there isn't much to keep the 'hardman/ woman' interested, great for basic practice in a very scenic lowland corridor, kind of like Headworks but maybe twice as long. My notes indicate "the higher, the better" as the most I ran it at was something like 1500. The nice waves are just after Big Kahuna, but that's about it at typical levels.

I'm up for a scenic float, or something that's going to keep me occupied with the whitewater ahead. I just want to try somewhere new, with a change of scenery! When I started kayaking I made a list of all the class II-III rivers I wanted to "be able" to paddle, but most have minimal beta and some aren't even listed on pp or aw. I'd like to fix that and I still want to paddle that list, take quality video of the run and call it good. I'll look forward to paddling the "new to me" river this winter break with you guys!
