Hey Guys,
It's been a while since i've been able to drop in, I gotta say, I miss the boating community in the NW a ton.  I left around late Oct. and I have been slowly making my way down the coast, couch crashing and living in my 4runner.  My goal is to learn how to surf, but so many things have gotten in the way.  Luckily, they have been rock climbing, meeting new people, catching up with old friends and family, disneyland, vegas, basically tons of unexpected turns that have been made possible by the word free.

Currently I'm working in a Leavenworth esk town called Solvang, at a high end jewelry store (while living in my car).  My friend's parents own it, and they desperately needed help as their only employee quit, then the next hire stole thousands.  I am replenishing my roadtrip funds for a month.  Unfortunately I am working 60+ hour weeks, beacuse there is nothing to do in Solvang.  It is a little dutch down inhabitated by geriatrics seeking perfect weather, and during the day time asian touists flood the town with cameras, coming into your store and asking deeescount?  Wish you were here Dan.  Honestly the best thing about this town is across the street there is an awesome bakery that sells day old bread for a dollar.  Yea, that lame.

Once March hits, i'm going to head further south, actually surf every day instead of work very day.  Also, I think with this new money I'm going to grab a plane ticket up north to see friends and get some much needed creeking.

Gordon,

Awesome to hear about your travels, the town sounds... well interesting. I don't think that town could handle Dano. The idea of the asian hammer tapping nails in coffins is well just as bad as dollar bread being the towns highlight. Get out there and have a blast though, your only young once, luckily you can pretend your whole life though!

Oh and PS the hospital is having fruit withdraws ... just thought I would let you know they miss ya. 2

Hey Gordon!

Glad to hear you're doing OK and that you might be coming up for a visit! :-) I'm excited to hear some of these awesome stories about some of those unexpected twists, turns, and detours! That's what's going to make the trip so memorable-- life would be so boring if things always went the way we planned or expected ;-)

Keep your chin up-- you'll be back surfin' soon!

Gentlemen,

I have proved time and again that the Asian community can and does enjoy my company. Sometimes they just need a little coaxing! Have fun Gordon, watch out for sharks!

Dan

If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.

I didn't mean to sound like i'm having a bad time, I'm really enjoying myself despite the fact the town sucks.  If this is the low point in my trip, I'm all smiles.  Besdies, I got 3 awesome loaves of bread this morning, 3 dolla!

Dan,
I will watch out for sharks...  My previous strategy was to send out Adrianne... he saw a fin the last time we were out and booked it into shore.  Freaking bottle nose sharks scarring the crap outta A.
