Reminds me of the Frazzle Ice post you made a year ago. I am pretty sure it is caused by small dams of ice that build up until the pressure breeches the dam and then all the water ice and debris goes down to the next bottle neck where it happens again. Cool stuff, certainly not something I would want to be in a kayak on!
