Yesterday at 1100cfs there was a sawed log bouncing up and down in the current near the end of Boulder Drop on river left near the gigantic house sized boulder.  (It is the left most slot of the two you can take.)  You cannot see it from the airplane turn eddy.

There seems to be some other new sawed logs and other detritus on the run.  Stay on the lookout for wood and stuff.  I'm wondering if someone dumped their crap in the river when it came up a few weeks ago.

There was a cut log stuck perpendicular to the current in the scrappy section just above Anderson Hole. Did it float down into B.D?

The log may have washed off as it was moving around a lot. If so, who knows where it is. Keep your eyes open.

If it didn't wash off it could have settled deeper as the water dropped. There is an eddy or river left that some folks like to catch about 3/4 of the way down BD, just downstream of the ledge below the airplane turn. The log was immediately below that eddy on river left, just above the slot (now divided into two slots) between the two giant rocks that make the second to last move on river left before the last ledge. It was wagging directly in the top of the left most slot. It might be gone but look before you venture in there. Did anyone run that slot yesterday?

I did, in fact.

To clarify:
The channel to the left of the "house" rock has two slots at these flows, like you said.
I took the leftmost of the two, which involves riding a pillow off of the dome shaped rock that divides the two slots. I did not see any wood in play near or around there, but I did approach this pillow from the center of the river, so it could have been upstream of me. Still, I think I'd have seen it if it was in play. I certainly didn't see any wood "wagging" at me. (or would it have been "waving"?-- both imply friendly gestures.Hmm. anyhow...)

Transient wood perhaps. Another reminder to always keep a sharp eye out. Keep an eye on where you are going and keep an eye on your friends.

Yep, that's the slot. Sounds like the wood went on downstream. You would have seen it as it was stuck (loosely) on the rock immediately upstream of that slot on river left. It was stuck at a 45 degree angle, downstream towards river right and it was blocking most of the entrance to that slot. You might have dodged it if you were coming directly at the center boulder but you would have seen it for sure.

As I mentioned it was wagging, or waving, or dancing or something along those lines, but it sure wasn't friendly looking. It was stuffed up against the rocks but it was getting pushed around by the water quite forcefully.

I'd guess it was about 10 - 12 feet long and around 1+ foot in diameter. Hard to tell as we were eddied out on river right just above the house rock. I would guess someone hitting it might have dislodged it and ended up running that slot buddy style with the log... No fun!

Glad to hear it's gone. That doesn't surprise me given the hoki-poki dance it was doing. Might be worth looking in the slot to make sure it isn't stuck in there under water next time someone paddles down, especially as the level looks to be dropping for the next week.

yeah. I think we got off the river around 2:30 or 3:00 just to give you a rough time frame of when we were there at B.D.

but, sounds like it's "wood under the bridge" as they say........
