No, you don't have to be a WKC member to use the Paradise access. But, the club does pay the landowner an "annual contribution" to allow kayakers to utilize the parking areas and river access adjacent to the center-road easement. Due to liability concerns, this agreement is on anything but solid ground. Therefore, as a community we need to be mindful of the owner's requests. First, ALWAYS lock the gate upon exiting the property - even if it's just to run shuttle. It's best to even close the gate when you drive in and are preparing to shuttle. Second, don't litter (this goes without saying). Third, drive on the easement access and NOT the grass (I've noticed the road getting a bit "wider" this past winter). And fourth, don't give out the combo to anyone who would access this site for purposes other than kayaking. Break these rules and the community as a whole chances losing the Paradise access.
Play nice,
Jon
