Yo Slicky,

I have a trip scheduled for Saturday on the Cascade. Also, there will be a Portland Crew in the area. If there aren't too many of us we should join up with them.

Do you have any Cascade Beta? I've done it before, but it's been 4 years.

the WRRR catboaters have been in there a bunch.  Here's Shelly's recent beta:

We ran the Cascade on Fri and Sat  (7/28). There are no big major changes
but I think the middle section of Bridge Wreck (the section where the
bridge used to be) has less water, especially for a level over
1200cfs. Everything was very clean from a wood standpoint, one very
very minor log drag just upstream of the takeout. I looked at the
screens at 10:30 friday morning - there was a full metal screen
showing and about 3"-4" of the screen below that also showing. The
10:30 gauge data shows 1330 cfs and in my opinion was an upper end
medium level. Participants in Friday's trip were Steve Fore, Drew
Chambers and myself. Participants in Saturday's trip were Dave
Becker, Eric Nauman, Ralph Pond, Mike Horner and myself.

On the Fri. scout for Starts-with-a-Bang there was a lot of bear sign
and on the return hike Steve made eye contact with the perpetrator of
the bear sign. On the Sat. scout for Monster I ducked under a log
and got stung in the face, Eric got stung on the hand and the rest of
the group wisely avoided the log.

A good time was had by all on both days.

I'll be up there Saturday early.  Comments on SWAB.  Take a good look at it.  The entrance ledge is gone so it looks really straightforward.  It's not entirely and can lead to a real bad day.  There is a log that runs parallel with the current to the first big ledge in SWAB (you'll see it during the scout).  You don't want to be in that ledge anyway.  From there down stay center to right to avoid the meat of the ledges.  Good eddies river right.  Scout Bridge from those.
Last week there was 1 and thrid metal grates showing out of the water.
