I got to thinking after talking to a park ranger at Kanasket park about all the fines these days and came up with this:

10 years ago we would go up there and swim and have a beer or two and jump off of the cliffs and rocks there. This is what would happen to you if you tried that today---

Let's say I wanted to go to Kanasket Palmer and have a beer and swim. I leave the house with my car and one beer with a sandwitch in my cooler. I have no idea about anything because I am uniformed and I used to swim there all the time when I was younger.

So, I park my car in the park, walk to the water with my cooler swim out to a big rock jump off the rock, then swim back to my cooler and have a beer. Here is what will happen:

First I get a ticket for no Discover Pass $99, then I get a ticket for  no life jacket $86, then I get a ticket for jumping off the rocks, Reckless Endangerment $5,000 and or a year in jail, then I get a ticket for consumption of Alcohol or open container $27- $500 fine, then I get a ticket for being a dumb ass....

Is our government out of control? I am almost scared to go anywhere these days because I am afraid I will get fined for something....

My casual swim at Kanasket could cost me up to and over $5,685.00!!!!! What has our county come too???

Dave I think you are over reacting as normal.

Some things you might have missed.
 - You can't have alcohol in State Parks so that would be a separate fine although I believe open container would still apply.
 - You probably also would not be wearing a seat belt....

Oh and by the way don't try and video tape the whole thing... That is a bad idea... it violates the law.

Hilarious stuff right here! That is a must watch clip.

The guy who posted the video is right. He has every right to record the contact. Everything the officer does on duty is public domain, and is subject to being recorded without his consent as long as the person shooting the video has a right to be where they are when they shot the footage and they do not obstruct the officer's ability to conduct the investigation (yes, even a traffic stop is an investigation).

For some reason a lot of cops choose to ignore this little slice of reality and end up doing things that will get them in trouble to stop some one from filming them out of fear that they might get caught on tape doing something that might get them in trouble.

They miss out on a lot of fun. In my experience about 90% of the people who film cops are doing it to get a rise out of them or to freak them out. They always look so crushed when I don't act any differently that it is usually the highlight of my day!

Gees, that's hilarious! Okay, they may claim some restrictions for alcohol beverages, but that's way too much. What's the point in going out to the lake and not being able to have fun??
