Just an FYI to anyone paddling the Cascade River, I installed a new stick gauge in the Cascade River Park, upstream of the metal bridge. The gauge is bolted to the downstream side of a large rock at the Cascade River Park picnic area on river right, about 300m upstream of the metal bridge. If you are reading it, the gauge is in centimeters, from 0cm to just over 100cm. Each tick mark is 1cm thick, and the spacing between marks is also 1cm, so you take a reading from the top or bottom of each mark. I installed it mostly for my personal use, since we own property in the park, but figured I would let everyone know about it, as it might prove useful in seeing how the water level is changing between runs since there is no cell reception up there. I have not yet had a chance to correlate the gauge to CFS, but I will post again once I have enough readings. If you do go paddling on the Cascade this summer, I would appreciate people snapping a picture of the gauge if you think of it and I will use the date and time of the photo along with the water level to make a correlation graph once I have enough readings. This gauge is in a much better location than the last one, so I'm pretty sure it won't wash away like the one I installed under the bridge. Enjoy.
Thanks,
Eli
