Need new paddling friends! Living near Port Ludlow, working on Kitsap. Trying to get out after work while there is still water on the olympic peninsula (usually off by 3-330) or this Friday (off).
Class IV boater, but looking more on the chill side as I haven't been able to get out much this spring with the move from VA. (UY, UG, LBS veteran on that side of the country).

I might be on the peninsula this weekend if you wanna get out in the Olympics on class III or less ... I am on an Alpacka. The ball sounds pretty right on too.

Yes indeed. And, the OP offers the opposite end of the spectrum to the Wenatchee this weekend:
Peace, solitude and Idyllic seclusion (OP)
-or-
Throngs, circuses, and meyhem (wenatchee this weekend)
I gotta say that I get my dose of the former throughout my other 200+ days on the water each year here in the PNW. For me, this weekend is all about the pomp and circumstance. The spectacle. The chaos of washington's entire avid whitewater community concentrated in one place for a weekend. Fair weather boaters, Whitewater Profiteers and Staunch Defenders (that's a tip of the hat to you, American Whitewater)...Rafters, Kayakers, and those who don't know which they are (I.K.ers)...SUPs, Cups, Cracked Coopers, Pallet theiving Party Poopers (actually, great for the party till the next day- ouch!), ect.

If the rain keeps up at the Hoh sneaks back up to 4000 or so, the South Fork Hoh might be fun. Apparently it's a short hike, class III. But may be better to wait for fall/winter.

Thanks for all the responses! I would plan on going to the ball, but I have to fly back east this weekend, unfortunately.
Love the mayhem of a good festival, but like everyone else, also love solitude. So, no chance I will miss the PP Ball next year.
Oh - and have to work tomorrow now as well. BOO!
