Topic: NF Snoqualmie access Posted: 13 Nov 2011 at 5:02pm |
NF boaters take note...
Starting Jan 1 you will be required to have a permit to access the river via Hancock Timber property (which includes the put-in for Ernies and putin and takout for the class 3 run)... even if you're walking in.
Hancock has been charging for vehicle access for years, but starting next year it will cost you to walk in. Vehicle permits are $225 and non-motorized access permits are $75 for 2012.

We need to rally a trip on the class III section sometime, I only want to run it once just to see what it is like, and enjoy it.

You should. It's a great little run. A little easier than MM. I'm hoping to get in there at least once before year is out.

Even worse, it's per person, not just one permit for the vehicle.
Charging $225/person/year to access a rather large swathe of western WA makes me so f**king angry I don't even know where to start.

Thanks for the heads up, that's a bummer. Just another tax on recreationalists. Pretty lame that it's going to further discourage people from getting to experience an awesome place so close to Seattle. Like Joe said, at 900 cfs the upper Class II-III run is super high quality. Fairly continuous with lots of big boulders in the river. I highly encourage everyone to check it out especially now since the legality of hiking out is in jeopardy.

Let me know when you are planning a run up there, I would love to get up there with someone soon.

I'd like to get up there too to run the class 3 stretch - that run in the Bennett book has always caught my eye
