While most paddlers are looking to the slopes for powder turns, there are a few of us out there dredging through feet of snow in search of the goods (or anything with water in it). This was the case this past friday when Cody and I drove to Hoffstadt Creek to meet up with the Hood River crew. We arrived to over 2 feet of snow in the hills, and post holed 1.5 miles to the put in. It was amazing there, heavy snow lined branches folded over the narrow creek in the Mt. St. Helens blast zone. This near eddyless creek flows over bedrock, with tons of slides and ledges, almost too many to mention,. The creek is fickle, and rarely has water in it, but worth it,
IF, you like crawling up a mountain side with thigh deep snow to reach your vehicle that you know is stuck, and probably snowed in

Good times! For you waterfalls lovers, Bridal Veil falls was on tap for saturday, and provided for great pics and video. Chris K, Cody, and myself all hucked it with great results. Sunday was another mission day. Chris Korbulic fired off 75 foot Butte Creek Falls for the first D, sick! trip reports and pics to follow soon.
