Sup PPers! I'll be in Bellingham for the better half of tomorrow and most of Thursday. So if anyone wants to paddle anything in B-Ham Thursday morning hola! -I'm totally lacking any beta & knowledge of the surrounding runs, but would be willing to get on anything. So I'll be out of net contact..so give me a ring @ 602.738.8822
Thanks!
Cody Howard
p.s. - if this post qualifies to be in a different section of the forum, I apologize. thx

Hugo, show's how much you know. There is more class V up here than most people know what to do with. You should go run Misto canyon!

Miso canyon? As in the whole canyon is filled with Miso soup? I have driven by the North Fork of the Nooksack on the way up to Mt Baker, and it looks pretty flat. Didn't see any reason to get hyped.

Sorry it's called misto gorge is the section directly above Nooksack falls. It is class V+ and the take out is a must catch eddy right above the falls.
Heres the page with the river description.

I have always liked Chopsticks and a good round of Dim Sum is sweet, but Mandarin has punked me, and now I am not sure if I should test the murky waters of MISO.... maybe my days in the orient are over....
Oh Misto you say.... nevermind

Personally, When I paddle in ANY runoff of the asian soup variety, I like to stay away from the Udon soup Drainages, Those noodles are so thick and present some serious entrapment potential. My FAVORITE would probably be sweet and sour creek runs, because the broth is nice and steamy and smells kinda like...
Well, never mind.
Incidently, I'm interested in paddling something tomorrow (friday) nearby Seattle.
Call me this afternoon or evening so I can line up a boat (mine's recently been stolen.)

Actually, a little known fact about Miso Canyon in Japan:
My brother knew a Japanese slalom racer who made the first decent of it in the 90's, And, yes, it is filled with pschedelic Miso soup! Above the put in there's a transnational Pharmeceutical corporation that was experimenting with a new MOOD ENHANCING MISO SOUP for Seattle's Bourgioese. Apparently some of their less successful test batches still get dumped into the river to this very day.
So there they were, in the crux of the canyon, and Godzilla strarted chasing them downstream, knocking boulders and cliff walls into the river, they couldn't take time to get out and scout anything and had to run it all blind. A bunch of samurais showed up at the take out and chased them around in circles, and Mothra hovered over their vehicles while they ran shuttle. stuff like this happened for a whole week before they came down and realized they'd be halucinating...
Ask Jeeves, man, it's f**king true!

alright alright I'm sorry that I called it Miso, it's actually misto. I'm glad I gave everyone fodder to chew on for a little while. Next time I will be better at researching the name of the run.

Yikes, Leaf and flatwater wacko are ganging up on me. I had better go and hide myself on some class IV, where I am safe from the likes of them.
