Topic: Thursday evening on the SF Sno Posted: 12 Apr 2006 at 1:01pm |
A couple of us are getting together for an after-work run on the SF Snoqualmie. Give me a call if you're interested in joining us.

Damn. I mean, gosh darn. I have to meet a client then. I want to check that out. Actually my girlfriend would be into running that section. Next time you go be sure to post the trip again!

Wetmouse, I run it quite a bit after work because it's longer and more interesting than the Powerhouse and shorter than the MM. I'll let you know.

In case you don't know. Leif is 6'8". Not exactly an ideal build for paddling. It should be amusing. Plus... the river is coming up!

Plus, keep in mind that in addition to me being quite tall, Tom is quite short, so as a result, he is always amusing.
Also, this is a pointless post, but I want to catch up with Tom's 220 (soon to be 221) posts.

Um, the counter says 222.
Am I being tempted to write a little script that will open a new topic and post 100 messages?
I could do it easily, but then I'd face the wrath of James. He'd probably make me clean the dust out of all his servers with a Q-tip, or something like that.

So you know, I was once the #3 poster on this site, but then came snowboarding season, and I slacked off, because some of us like to play on the white stuff once and a while. I used to have the most "stars", but then James re-alligned the scale.
Of course, I am guessing that the system doesn't do a select count(...) on the messages, so editing my message count should require a very simple update to the database...
I guess it's time I start posting trips again. Is it warm yet down on the White Salmon?

So, I guess it is about 13 more messages for me to regain "Super Looper" Status, no make that 12...

Hmmm, 414, haha, The South fork is much better at around 3000cfs, big green surfing waves and big holes to avoid.

We were talking about doing the MM, and if I don't go snowboarding this weekend, the Green might be in order; however, I am the one who suggested doing something easy, because I am trying a new playboat...
I do find it amusing though, that Tom, an admited technophobe, managed to figure out how to use that keyboard-thinggy in concert with IE to blast out so many messages.
Dave, on the other hand, just uses the professor paddle message boards as his primary way to receive email...

Ok all you punk posters... Time for the big dog to step in....
Of course I don't do a select count ... how lame would that be to every SQL guru out there.... I update the number of posts on message entry, so yes lief... I could very easily bump status for anyone... but that would be cheating....
P.S. I am not a jerk ... you can clean my servers with 1 can of compressed air, and my jimivac (Tiny vacumn for computers)

So James, I see your signature changed from "Why?" to "Where's the Beef?". Is there something I am missing here? I feel like I am on the outside of some Professor Paddle insider humor. Fill me in. Make me feel like one of the in crowd.
As far as SQL goes, I know my way around, but would someone please tell me what a bitmap star join is in terms I can understand?

I do alot of inner joins and transformation methods, but I have not messed around with Star Transformations. From what I have read this is more useful in Oracle applications. Not to say that it is not used in SQL, but I see other methods of accomplishing the same result with less lengthy queries.
Stop that... this is not a DBA forum .... you crazy cat.
lets boat the green this weekend... I had to throw that in there so I was not compelety off topic, although I still am considering this thread.

Oh and by the way... Lief you are not missing anything big guy... I just change my signature every now and then to something completely useless and pointless. What ever pops in my head at that moment that I think will confuse people or make them wonder WHY!

Or maybe it is. 255
I agree Dave, the SF is much better at higher levels. I've only run it at 2000cfs though, I bet 3000 is epic.

I actually have several different emails and use a few different forums, but qp is the best. I actually cought up to James once, then he suddenly jumped about 100 posts ahead? Anyway, the South fork is a great alternative to the Middle when the Middle is 7000 and above, so it's never a waisted drive up there. Not a good idea to solo boat at high water though, one guy with us got sucked into a monster hole and we never did recover his boat. Local homeowners called the fire dept. when they saw the boat floating downstream towards the falls! They met us at the takeout bridge and seamed quit concerned, but we were ok. See you guys next week, I'm off to the San Juans for 4 days of glorius sea kayaking. lol
