Topic: White Salmon Weekend Posted: 29 Mar 2006 at 1:14am |
Alright everyone....
Some friends of mine are headed down to the White Salmon this
weekend. I want to run the Falls Section of the E Fork Lewis,
Farlands, and Green Truss (maybe?). I want to carpool down.
Who's coming with me? I have some camping lined up, and a
reliable vehicle. I might even be down to leave Friday early if I
could duck out of work to get on the Lewis on the way down.. we'll
see. Post if interested...

Man I'd REALLY like to go! I'll let you know by tommororow night (thurs)-- My current dilema is that some old friends of mine who i used to paddle with want to go out and run something easy. So I'm torn! Boat with the old familiars or go find some action on the White Salmon! maybe they'll want to run BZ corners down or somethin. I better find out---'cause soon the snow will start melting and Green Truss will be off limits to little'ol me!

-oh and The E frk of the Lewis has a spot in my heart for sure! so the idea of jamming out of town early appeals to me as well. If you leave early on Friday, when are you thinking?

umm. I'm confused. The SKY was in the opposite direction from Seattle that the White Salmon is in. Last time I checked.
JBLUM and Newtobin-- did you guys recently start paddling with Captain
Kirk and Scotty or something? If so count me in. We could run the
Middle Middle and beam up to the Chilliwack, then beam down to the N.
Frk of the Stanislaus and stil be back in time for lunch.

Jon-- I'm interested in running either or both White Salmon runs you
mentioned, and/or the Wind or Klick. Both of the latter would be new
rivers for me to put on my map.
So I'll probably call you up tomorrow (thurs) to see if your still on
the launch pad. as long as I know by Thursday night, I could
concievably be ready to Blast out of SeaTac early Friday afternoon.

Hey Jonathan,
This is Erik--I did the rescue class with you a couple weekends ago (my helmet had a different name...perhaps you remember?). Hey, I might be interested in the Klickitat/White Salmon. I might be able to wrangle a buddy to do it, too--I'm working on it. I'm just interested in the III/III+ stuff, though, particularly if it is a small group on a new river --I'm not sure this is the kind of stuff you wanna hit, though. Let me know how things are shaping up. I could carpool Friday night, too, perhaps.

I'd like to express a strong interest in the GREEN TRUSS section on one of those days. Otherwise I'd be interested also in any easier sections of rivers such as the Klickatat or the Wind. I'll put my paddle in the water anywhere on either of those runs as I've never seen them.
Definitely interested in firming up plans tonight though. I have a friend who's disappointed in me for bailing on him and the class III plans we had. So It may be cool to bring him down with me to run something IIIish if that's what's in the works.
It'd be really cool to go get verticle on one of those days, though. Pool drop 'an ya don't stop! (unless maybe to scout )

White Salmon crew,
Here's the deal: We're leaving Tacoma at 7am. There are 3 of us in my car
(JP, Peter, me) and we have a shuttle bunny (Peter's g/f ) so we're set. The
truss is looking pretty high for a first run down... Its at 3.5 and I've heard
that is stout for the first time... we'll see. I'm thinking we'll do the
Farmlands/ BZ section of the white salmon on Sat and then maybe hit the
Wind/ Klick on Sunday. I'm all about maximizing my weekends, and with
shuttle taken care of, I think we can knock off 4 in one weekend. Other
posibilities include Lewis, Hood or other. We'll see how it looks.

That sounds good. Although I'm quite eager to run the Truss, I don't exactly want to get stuffed down it or flushed through every cave it has to offer. Farmlands + Husum = dandy.
Wind /Klicknclack thumbs up. Jon I just got a voice mail maybe it's you. I'll call you for directions -looks like an early departure from Seattle for me in the am.
