Other Issues The AW site recommends around 4000 on the Hoh gauge 3/2/13- ran S. Frks Sol Duc 4500 cfs on Calawah guage, 6500 cfs on the Hoh. Nice medium for first time Limit group size. We had a group of three and felt that a fourth would make boat scouting and portaging more difficult, eddies are small and the rapids are fairly continuous.

Fun Facts Cool gorge, would be a really fun run if it was clean.

   Run Description [Season: Rain]

From put in down to the gorge it's class III-IV with some wood hazards that require portaging. Before the gorge we portaged 5 times. All obvious, scout and portage accordingly. At a medium flow wood was easy to stop above, higher water might be a different story.

Once in the first gorge portaging becomes very difficult. The biggest of the bigger rapids has wood in the bottom right about a boat width off the right wall and could be portaged but it would be extremely difficult, very tight gorge would require hiking back up stream, ferrying across, then hiking out to the road. Easier to run. Pretty straight forward rapid, the tree is just spooky and if you ended up tangling with it it would be a bummer.
