Run Description [Season: Year Round]After leaving Boggan's Oasis the river enters a deep desert canyon with some interesting oxbow bends. Camping gets sparse, but there are some great sites on public land around 14 miles below Boggan's Oasis.
The run gets flat and braided, but maintains its class II nature until a couple miles above the confluence with the Snake River. Here you come to the Narrows. The Narrows are really two rapids that are close together. The first is a wave train bigger than anything else on the run. At 3800 CFS it was very managable, but at high water it might push you into the river right bank. The second drop was class III at medium levels but supposed becomes very technical at lower levels, and has powerful raft flipping hydraulics at higher levels.
About a mile downstream of the Narrows you hit a class II+ rapid at the last bridge crossing the river.
Shortly thereafter you reach the confluence with the Snake River. Heller Bar will be a couple of hundred yards downstream on river right.
Good surfing opportunities last until the Snake River confluence.
