  Other Issues

This run can collect wood in worse years. It usually has wood in places. Ran it on 4/24 with no portages.

  Fun Facts

This run could easily be a cooler big brother to the Foss in the Skykomish drainage. Longer, more continuous and boasting a larger selection of quality rapids, Upper Trout Creek is a classic run. A great run to boat scout for class V kayakers who've done the areas tougher runs. Similar to the Foss, Trout Creek's steeps also average 200 feet per mile. Lots of great drops. Camp out for the weekend and run a bunch of laps.

   Run Description [Season: fall, spring]

Upper Trout Creek is a classic run in the Upper Wind River drainage in the Columbia River Gorge. One of the best boat-scoutable runs I've been on. Plenty of great action from put in to take out. No hiking unless there's snow on the road. We had a bit of snow and wound up cutting through the woods early to find the river instead of walking up through the snow for the flatwater laying upstream. We popped out about where the class III started turning to IV. I give it an A as long as it's free of wood. A cooler version of the Foss with a few bigger drops thrown in to keep the SWEET factor extra tasty!! Look for the Wind to be over 7'
