  Access

The Putin has a gravel parking area on the opposite side of the road that is used for parking.

  Putin Details

To Reach the Putin, drive out to the Issaquah Hobart Rd. Until you pass the town of hobart. Roughly 2 miles after you have passed hobart you will reach a bridge over the cedar river. There is a park and a slalom course at the put in. Parking is recommended on the other side of road in the Gravel Lot.

  Takeout Details

Some people take out at the Maple Valley Bridge Crossing of HWY 18. Other Take Outs are seen along HWY 169 which runs along the Cedar. After the Second Jones road bridge, there is a substanial Log Jam which should be avoided. There is not much after this bridge before Lake Washington, and most do not paddle past this point.

  Fun Facts

At the Put In there is a slalom course where training and compitetions are held each year. Great run to see peoples homes and local party spots where kids have trashed the river :(

Run Description [Season: Fall, Winter, Spring]

The Cedar is a fun after work run that is prone to collecting wood at the top. Further downstream there is a surprisingly beautiful little canyon. This is a great place to take beginners, yet always watch out for wood. There are several places to work on whitewater fundementals such as eddies and very small basic rapids. In addition, there are a couple great spots for beginners to learn to surf small waves. At the lower range of flows, the rapids become quite shallow and thus are less friendly to flip-prone beginning paddlers.

For squirt boaters this river is a blessing. Why? First because it is close to town. Making a huge trip just to get some sinking in makes it hard to hone your skills. Luckily this river has several spots where you can get your sink on without a long drive. For many it is on the way to work. Although the sink spots are not epic in nature they will offer up some downtime and more importantly a close locale for learning.

** Salmon Runs in the Fall can get a be fun in the early run but late season it will get stinky due to dead fish on the banks. **
