I joined Yotes, Leif, John ( Hydro) for what we think is the first run of the year on the Chiwawa.  Thanks to Ryans superior navagating skills, and Leifs need to show off the horse power in his penis extention, finding the put in, took some time. Being that I was just following them, I can critisize.

Snow on the road made us hike about 500 yards to the river, but it gave Ambre a great place to hang, fire pit and all. Now to the important stuff.
The windy nature of the river, and the fallen wood on the banks, made me a little cautious around coners, and John did a great job of being our wood poodle.
We only had to portage twice, the first is in a river left bend, around 4 miles in, there is an obvios log jam on river right, the tree extending the rest of the way to the left bank was clearly visible.  We grabbed branches on the left bank, but there is a good eddie on the left just above the tree. It would make for a 3 foot portage.
The second was a little harder to spot and I think had more consiquences. My best guess is that it was about 1 mile below the park/ toilet sign on river right? It is a large diameter tree, that at the level we ran at, had poor over in the middle of the channel. About a 10 foot wide path. The root ball is on river right, and the river is  bending to the left. A little higher water and the tree will be invisible, I dont know if thats good or bad.
The run is light class III but continious splashy waves and alot of sharp corners keep it fun.
