Some of our local crew went out yesterday with the gas powered beaver and cleared out the lead in to this drop. Now the run is good to go from the road to the bottom of Ski Jump (the big slide below this waterfall, has a rock in the line that gives you some air into the pool below) Chris Bolkan got the first D on this one (and the 6 foot lead in drop 150 feet upstream, no eddies between the 6 footer, now known as commitment, and this waterfall)

Any run with a sweet drop like that is cool... to bad there is not more stuff like that!

The slide down below is way too much fun to skip, too (even though Leif didn't think it was worth the extra hiking).

So how high is the waterfall shown in this picture? Hard to get a sense of scale. When does the run go off? The optimal time of year/water level to run this?

It's hard to tell. I'd say it was about 20', but maybe a little less. Definitely not a destination run. Best time is right around now when the hunters aren't there, the mosquitoes aren't around, and the snakes are hibernating. If you find yourself driving through the Tri-Cities on the way to Spokane or something it would be worth the quick excursion. It's a very fun drop, but it and the lead in are the only two worth while things. It's visually appealing in person. The little grotto underneath is very attractive. You can run multiple laps on it to make a day out of it. Gauge is visual.
