hmm the last time I ran that rapid I went right over that big rock (standing wave) dead sideways. As I got to the crest of said wave I looked down and realized this was not going to be a fun spot. As I landed I reached so far downstream to brace I almost fell over. As I corrected/continued to brace I lost purchase and almost rolled over again. I flailed a couple times and realized I had just been gifted by the river gods. I don't know if it was not very sticky or what, but I sure felt like I got a BIG get outta swim free card.

Just to clarify the route map...our goal was to run the green tongue on river left. From the road, I thought it would look more like green stairs than a tongue. (This is the solid like on the hand left). The X marks your hole --- the nasty, huge, sucking everything near it hole. While the diagram remains correct, let's just clarify one point -- there is no freaking green tongue or green stair steps. It is not a place I'm prepared to revisit at this level until I have some better skills.
